SkinCareGuide Executives

The executives of SkinCareGuide are a diverse and synergistic group with extensive knowledge and achievements in clinical, academic and business aspects of dermatology.

Stuart Maddin, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Stuart Maddin, Chairman of SkinCareGuide, is one of North America's well-known and respected dermatologists, and is the author of numerous dermatologic journal articles, monographs and textbooks. He is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of Skin Therapy Letter, a publication that is indexed by the National Library of Medicine. In addition to providing consultative input to a number of pharmaceutical and biotech companies, he is the director of the clinical trials unit at the Department of Dermatology and Skin Science, UBC. Dr. Maddin has also acted in an advisory capacity to a number of drug regulatory agencies, such as the Health Protection Branch (Ottawa), the AAD-FDA Liaison Committee and WHO (Geneva). As well as being the founder of the Dermatology Update symposia, now its 20th year, he is past President of the Canadian Dermatology Association and served as Secretary-General of the International Committee of Dermatology - International League of Dermatological Societies.

Jeffrey S. Dover, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Dover is one of the United States’ preeminent academic Dermatologists and leader in the fields of laser medicine and cosmetic laser surgery. He received his medical degree in Canada and pursued post-graduate studies in the UK and in the US. He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Yale University School of Medicine in New Have, CT, and an Adjunct Professor of Medicine (Dermatology) at Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, NH. He is director of Skin Care Physicians of Chestnut Hill, a comprehensive dermatology center in Boston.

Dr. Dover is the author of over 200 publications including six textbooks. He is founding editor of Journal Watch for Dermatology, produced by the publishers of the New England Journal of Medicine. Dr. Dover has received many honors including repeated nominations for Teacher of the Year at Harvard Medical School, where he was an Assistant Professor of Dermatology for several years. He received the prestigious Leon Goldman M.D. Memorial Lectureship Award given by the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.

Richard Thomas, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Thomas is the Chief Medical Officer of SkinCareGuide. After receiving his Medical degree in the UK, Dr. Thomas became an established clinical Dermatologist in Vancouver, Canada, and Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia. His 20 plus years of experience in Medicine is well-rounded with clinical trial activity, various dermatology society memberships, and an active practice in community and laser dermatology clinics. Dr. Thomas has a visionary approach to the Internet and Dermatology and is a leader in melding the information needs of physicians and consumers via Internet technologies.

Ian Howard

Mr. Ian Howard is an intregral part of the Board of Directors of SkinCareGuide, and manages the day to day affairs of the company. He has extensive experience in marketing, government and health care. As the CEO and owner of Leverage Sponsorship Inc., Mr. Howard has gained over 25 years of business experience with Fortune 500 companies internationally. He has gained an intimate understanding of business and political interactions while involved with the federal government in his earlier career where he served in numerous capacities, including executive assistant to the Minister of Health. In addition, he has worked on numerous dermatology publications and events.

Doreen McMorran

Ms. Doreen McMorran is the Director of Sales and Marketing for SkinCareGuide. In this position, she is responsible for developing international sales and marketing strategies, as well as forming strategic partnerships. She brings with her over 20 years of sales and marketing experience, with 13 years in the medical industry. Prior to joining, Ms. McMorran was a consultant in the technology and healthcare fields, assisting companies with business and marketing strategies. She was responsible for the start-up success of two private surgery centers where she served as Center Director and also served as Continuing Medical Education Associate and sales representative for a large multi-national pharmaceutical company. Ms. McMorran holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) degree from the University of Manitoba, and is a Certified Internet Marketing and Business Strategist, with a Certificate In Internet Marketing from the University of British Columbia.
