I saw no results with my Restylane treatment, what should I do?

I had a dermal filler by a dermatologist (Restylane) & was very unhappy with the results. I saw no results and looked the same 3 weeks later as I did before the procedure. Maybe the doctor was not experienced not sure. Please Advise me on my options.

You may be right, but inadequate fill is not just inexperience of the doctor. Most of the time it's from inadequate volume injected. Many people want to save money and just do a little, but in reality they may need a lot. I do like to go slow, however, so if one tube is not enough, then the patient can always come back for more.

The best way to document what was achieved is by comparing before and after pictures. If one does not see results, it may be that the filler was placed too deep or in a place where a more consistent filler may need to be injected, which is something that could occur if Restylane was used in places like the cheek. On the other hand, if it is done for very thick and deep folds, the improvement may not be that obvious to your eyes after 1 syringe.

To better answer your question, one would need to know where it was injected. Ideally the before and after pictures would be needed to explain better what has happened.

You present an excellent question and the answer can have two scenarios. Yes, your doctor could have injected too shallow or deep and thus your results would be less then expected. That said often patient outcomes are a direct result of simply not using enough
product. Frequently patients who need 4 or more syringes will come in and state they have a $500 to $600 budget which is only one syringe. Putting one syringe in a patient that needs four is also performing a disservice. The patient won't be happy with the outcome. I'd rather tell a patient to honestly go elsewhere for the one syringe then have
him/her leave the office under filled.

You should first discuss your unhappiness with your dermatologist to see what they say. Sometimes there are communication/misunderstandings about your goals and expectations and what your doctor is trying to do. Depending on the area and desired result, you likely will need more Restylane. The issue will be the cost. Depending on what you both agreed at the time of the initial consultation, then it will determine if you need
to pay more or whether they should at least cover some or all of the cost of the extra syringe(s).
If you don't get a satisfactory explanation, then you can consider seeing someone else.

If you were not happy with the results you should go back to the doctor and discuss it with them. If they took before photos you could do a comparison with the doctor.
