Rosacea Natural Treatment: Betaine Hydrochoride

Betaine hydrochloride is a rosacea natural treatment that may be applied if you have milder symptoms of this skin disease. The condition can cause skin rashes, capillaries and even acne flare-ups, mostly present on the face. Betaine hydrochloride can be applied topically to reduce the symptoms of rosacea.

Betaine Hydrochloride for External Use

Betaine hydrochloride is also known as hydrochloric acid (HCl) and may be applied externally on the skin that is affected by rosacea. The betaine hydrochloride will kill the bacteria in the skin pores that may facilitate the irritation of skin. The solution can also reduce irritation and swelling.

There are solutions that may be prepared by a pharmacist and should be applied twice per day. The solution used should be prescribed by a dermatologist and shouldn’t contain a high concentration of HCl (between 2% and 5% should be sufficient). In some patients, betaine hydrochloride that has a higher concentration 5% or over may cause skin irritation. The concentration should be lowered.

Betaine Hydrochloride for Internal Use

Betaine hydrochloride is a substance that can promote a healthy digestion. Rosacea is often correlated with a poor digestion and an unhealthy diet, so getting some digestion supplements may help. A recent study has revealed the fact that over 90% of rosacea patients have stomach acid. Betaine hydrochloride helps with the digestion of proteins and numerous vitamins.

Other digestive enzymes and fibers may also be considered in patients with rosacea (i.e. pancreatic enzymes). However, these supplements should only be taken if recommended by a specialist.
