Duration of ArteFill

ArteFill is an injectible bovine collagen dermal filler. The bovine collagen has the unique property of lasting longer than other dermal filler procedures. As a matter of fact, ArteFill is considered to be a permanent dermal filler. However, the duration of the effects of ArteFill will depend on how the patient ages and the new wrinkles and creases that are unavoidable during the aging process.

The ArteFill Procedure

The ArteFill procedure involves injecting a few doses of cow collagen under the skin of the patient. The most common areas where collagen is injected are the nasolabial folds or the area around the eyes. The entire procedure lasts for up to 30 minutes, depending on the amount of collagen injected and the areas treated. The patient may get more collagen if the wrinkles are deeper.

ArteFill is a treatment that has received FDA approval and is known to be a non absorbable dermal filler treatment. However, patients that get this treatment should be tested, as the bovine collagen can cause allergic reactions in some people and may not be tolerated in the long run.

Duration of ArteFill

ArteFill is a bovine collagen dermal filler that contains large particles of collagen. The bovine collagen will not be absorbed by the patient’s body and may have durable results. Some patients may see results even after 5 years from the treatment. However, even if the treatment is theoretically permanent, the patient may develop new wrinkles and these will need new treatments.
