Candidacy for Skin Tyte

Skin Tyte is a procedure that employs pulsed infrared light to repair and rejuvenate skin. The treatment may be applied on all areas of the body that require repair, but it is most frequently used on the face and neck. The procedure may be applied on a wide range of patients, but there are a few cases in which Skin Tyte is not recommended.

Candidacy for Skin Tyte

Skin Tyte can be used in patients between the age of 18 and 70 that are healthy. The treatment may also be applied in adolescents or patients over 70, but the dermatologist will have to perform a few tests prior to applying the Skin Tyte.

The best candidates have sun damaged skin, sun spots, wrinkles and irregular pigmentation. The patients should have realistic expectations from the Skin Tyte. The procedure will not give dramatic results, but will definitely improve the appearance of the skin.

Patients with deep wrinkles and scars or severe acne may not get the best possible results and should get different cosmetic treatments.

Skin Tyte Contraindications

The Skin Tyte procedure is not recommended if the patient:

  • Has autoimmune diseases (i.e. lupus)
  • Has diabetes that is not controlled
  • Has connective tissue problems
  • Has active herpes on the areas that will be treated
  • Is under retinoid treatment (for acne)

The treatment may also not be recommended in pregnant and lactating women. Also, if the patient’s skin is tanned, the procedure may not be as efficient as in patients with no tan.
