Is acne laser treatment dangerous?

I use an IPL laser with Levulan. It is a very safe procedure. You do have redness for several days. Uncommonly you can get blisters which normally heal fine. If do not follow instructions and go outdoors (there is a 24 hour restriction of staying indoors) then you can get severe blisters which may end up scarring.
The overall procedure has minimal pain. The area is numbed topically prior to using the laser. You will feel like a rubbing band is flicking at your skin.
I do not recommend this procedure for very dark skin patients because of the pigment. This procedure can be done in light Hispanics, blacks, and Indians.

There are many lasers that treat acne. I can only speak for the ones I use in my office. I have 3 different lasers that I can use on acne . They are painless and 2 of the 3 can be used on dark skinned patients.

Our acne treatments are safe for all skin types. Risks of ANY laser treatment can be blisters or burns and this is why you would want to find someone experienced with a specialization in laser treatments.
