Cost of Age Spot Treatments

The cost of an age spot treatment depends on a number of factors including where you live, the type of treatment, the amount of sessions needed, and the experience level of the doctor. There are a variety of procedures available to help remove age spots. The following are the average costs as reported by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is one of the least expensive age spot treatments and costs an average of $200. Generally patients require several treatments to see optimal results.

Intense Pulsed Light treatment (Fotofacial)

The Fotofacial uses high intensity broad-spectrum pulses of light that target age spots from deep underneath the skin; with no downtime required. The price for a Fotofacial is based on the size of the area being treated. On average, the cost ranges from $350 to $600 per treatment.

Chemical peels

The average cost of a chemical peel varies dramatically. Cost depends on which of the variations of chemical peels you choose. For instance, a lighter peel can cost as little as $100, while patients wanting a deeper chemical peel can expect to spend up to $1500.

Laser Resurfacing

There are a number of laser treatments that offer a varying degree of energy to reach different depths in the skin. Ablative lasers work to repair skin close to the surface which can require a considerable amount of downtime. These procedures cost $1,500 to $2,500 on average. Fractionated lasers target age spots from deep within the dermis, leaving the epidermal layer untouched. Patients can usually resume their daily activities the same day. The average cost of this procedure is $800 to $1,000.
