Will dermabrasion cause my skin to bleed?

How deep does dermabrasion go? How do the results compare to strong chemical peels?

True dermabrasion is very traumatic. It is essentially like "sanding" the face with an abrasive surface. Our office never performed this procedure because of significant patient downtime. It is certainly stronger than chemical peels and definitely has the potential to cause bleeding and redness. The new form of dermabrasion is microdermabrasion, which is much less severe. We use a process called "silk peel", which adds hydration during the abrasion process. I hope this helps.

My skin reacts negatively to anything that I touch. If i slightly scratch it or my clothes rub onto my skin, it swells up and itches like crazy. My skin rises and tuns red wherever I have scratched. This often happens on my face as well. I wanted to try dermabrasion but given my skin irritation issues, would that be a good idea?
