What are the pros and cons for each?
Implants are permanent - which is both the good and bad news - unless they can be surgically removed. Most fillers are hyaluraon-based and eventualy disappear. However, if not satisfied, these hyaluron-fillers can be dissolved by the simple injection of a solution of hyaluronidase.

Hi there,
We prefer injectables versus lip implants in our office. Although lip fillers (injectables) are a temporary fix, it allows you to decide whether or not you like your lip augmentation. With lip injectables, you can play around with your lips and decide what works best for your face and what works for you.
Lip augmentation is a more permanent solution, but has higher risks compared to lip injectables, such as infections, implants moving, and possibly having to go back in for surgery to adjust/remove the implant if you are unhappy with them. We have experience with past patients who get lip implants, but still come in for additional fillers as they are unhappy with their implants.

Fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane are better for filling the lips than an implant. Fillers are softer and more natural looking than implants.
Also, if you don't like the implant you are stuck with it. If for some reason you don't like the look or feel of a filler it will wear off.
