Will laser tattoo removal work on a very scarred tattoo?

My tattoo is all black and is very scarred and raised. Is it safe to have this type of tattoo removed by laser? Will it possibly make the scarring worse?

It almost sounds like your skin has keloided? If so, then laser removal could make it worse. You need to make sure. I would recommend seeing a plastic surgeon before moving forward!
