Treatments for my severe acne and scars...

I am a black woman and I have acne vulgaris, which leaves openings and really bad scars...what treatment would best help me?

Hello. There are many options for acne and acne scars, but since you
are still dealing with acne, let's focus on those for a moment.

Over the counter products such as Proactiv are a good starting point.
Retin A and Glycolic acid based OTC products should also be tried.

If over the counter products are not working, you can try medications
from your dermatologist. These include prescription strength Retin A
products, antibiotics or even Accutane (in severe cases).

If medications are not working for you, then you may consider later
treatments and/or photodynamic therapy.

    Hello! I'm 18 years old and I just started taking birth control for my acne. I usually break out pretty bad the week before my menstrual cycle and my skin scars very easily so my skin looks really bad. I am usually able to get clear skin after my period if I wash it and put scar cream, but then I break out and scar again. I was very hesitant to try birth control so I did some research and I got even more scared. I decided to give it a try anyway to see how it would affect my skin and I havent seen a difference at all. If anything my skin is probably a little bit worse. I am on my first pack of the pill.
