Once you complete the four to six treatments of Fraxel, how long does it last? Is it determined by skin care and sunscreen?

I am about to have a Thermage treatment and possibly Fraxel later. I would like to know if I will need no further treatments after the initial four to six treatments with proper skin care.

Your Fractional Laser Resurfacing treatments should take you back 4-5 years. How long the results will last, depends on your natural aging process and your life style. If you smoke, drink alcohol, and do not use sun protection, the results will diminish quicker. It is very important that you continue to use a good sunscreen, as well as a Vitamin C serum, we like SkinCeutical's C&E Ferulic.

We do recommend a touch up treatment every six months.

None of the above is not intended as medical advice. If you have a medical concern, please consult your doctor.

The results and the length of improvement with any laser treatment you choose will be dependent upon your skin care and sun exposure. The nice thing about Thermage and Fraxel treatments is that they can be repeated when it becomes necessary again. I always tell my patients that if they are not going to take care of their skin why invest in cosmetic procedures.

After you have completed a series of Fraxel treatments it is always recommended to do a follow up every 4-6 months to maintain your results. Doinga microdermabrasion on a monthly basis helps maintain your results also; in which case you may only need a yearly fraxel treatment.

I personally do not do Thermage. Fraxel lasts years especially if you incorporate a good skin care program after the treatments.
