How long does it take for Juvederm to dissolve?

I got Juvederm injections above my lip and around my smile lines 4 days ago. My lips are still swollen and I can hardly open my mouth or smile. How long does it take for Juvederm to dissolve?

Swelling (as well as redness) is not unusual after injection of filler. This is temporary and usually resolves within one to a few weeks after treatment. It is usually the result of irritation within the skin and surrounding tissue from the administration of the filler - it is not usually due to the placement of too much filler. Fillers are slowly absorbed - anywhere from a few months to a couple of years. You should consult with your physician regarding what you might do to reduce any swelling during these first few weeks after treatment.

Once the swelling goes down things should start to go back to normal. Juvederm will last at least 9 months, if not longer. If, however, you are unhappy with the result (I would wait a good 2 weeks), you should go back to your provider and ask them if they can remove it. You should know that your provider may charge you to remove the dermal filler because he may need to special order the dissolving agent (Hyaluronidase) that is used to remove it.
