The length of time Juvederm lasts varies from person to person and the type of Juvederm injected. Juvederm Ultra lasts around 6 months to a year. Juvederm Ultra plus lasts around 9 months to 1.5 years. Juvederm Voluma lasts 1.5 to 2 years. A lot depends on your existing volume and the blood flow in the area injected.

There are five different Juvederms: Volure, Volbella, Ultra, Ultra Plus and Voluma. They all have different durations of effect, not only based on which consistency is used, but also depending on what area is injected.

Juvaderm has FDA clearance to last up to 12 months. On average we find Juvaderm Ultra to last up to 6months, and Juvaderm Ultra Plus to last a bit longer. It all depends on your metabolism and how fast or slow your body breaks down the product.

Officially, Juvederm is FDA approved to last up to 1 year. However, in clinical practice it varies from individual to individual and location of the injection. In areas of greater movement such as lips and nasolabial lines then it usually last less than when used underneath the eyes or cheeks where it can last 1 year or longer.

In our practice, we set the expectation that Juvederm lasts between 4-9 months. The length of time between injections depends on the skill of the practitioner (placing at the correct depth in the skin) and which area of the face is injected. Areas of the face with less movement (under eyes) last longer than areas with more movement like the mouth.
