The fat cells that are killed are permanently dead. CoolSculpting does not affect all of the fat cells, only 20 to 30%. The fat cells that are targeted are the most lipid-rich cells that are the hardest to get rid of by dieting or exercise. Because of this, we typically see very good long-term results for the area treated. Obviously, some of the fat cells that are not affected may become more active if the patient begins to eat more or exercise less. I hope this helps.

Coolsculpt actually permanently destroys the fat cells so that the results should last forever. You have to keep in mind, however, that the remaining fat cells can get larger/smaller depending on diet and exercise. So, in sum, as long as a patient stays diligent with diet and exercise, he or she should be fine!
