Botulinum toxin is effective in stopping perspiration from the underarms, hands, and feet. However, treatment is quite uncomfortable. A topical anesthetic applied to the underarms is very effective in reducing pain but it does not provide a much benefit on the thick skin of the palms and soles.

In my experience, Botulinum toxin provides a consistent 6 months of perspiration relief after treatment, unlike the usual 3 (uncommonly up to 4) months of benefit for the cosmetic reduction in facial expression lines.
