Acne symptoms are different for every person. Here are some examples of the most common symptoms to look out for:
• Blackheads are tiny black spots, the size of a pin that sit on the surface of the skin and represent the first stage of a pimple.
• Whiteheads are similar to blackheads as they are caused when the pores become clogged with oil and dead skin cells. Unlike blackheads that are open, whiteheads are covered by a thin layer of skin which is why they remain white
• Pimples are the most common symptom of acne. These red lesions occur when a blackhead comes in contact with acne bacteria
• Deep acne lesions occur when the pimple becomes infected and inflamed with pus. This is the most difficult type of acne to treat as it is rooted deep within the skin. This type of acne can easily spread and can lead to permanent scarring if left untreated
