Dangers of Tanning Beds

Avoiding tanning beds is another way to prevent sun damage. UVA rays from tanning beds have been found to be up to two to three times more powerful than natural UVA rays from the sun. Sunless tanning alternatives are now offered at many medical spas and tanning studios. Preventing sun damage is important for individuals who may be at increased risk of skin cancer. Fair skinned individuals who are prone to sunburn, individuals who work outdoors and those with a family history of cancer are among those who may be at an increased risk, but this is a subject that should be discussed with a skincare professional.
