Treating Stretch Marks with a Home Remedy

A stretch marks home remedy can help lighten stretch marks to a significant extent. Generally, women get these marks below the umbilicus, and at times, in the thigh and breast regions. Stretch marks can also be hereditary in some people; however, most of them get these marks after delivering a child or due to immediate weight gain or weight loss. Try out these home remedies to lighten your stretch marks.

Dietary Changes

Taking a balanced and nutritious diet is the most trusted and effective option to treat and also to prevent the formation of stretch marks. Well hydrated skin is less prone to stretch marks, so increase your water intake.

Vitamin A, C, E and zinc are effective in controlling stretch marks. So, include nuts and seeds that have these micronutrients in your diet so that you can effectively reduce the stretch marks. Increase your consumption of dairy products, fish liver oil, fish, tomatoes and green leafy vegetables.

Cocoa Butter

This butter is found to be effective in treating stretch marks. Mix half a cup of cocoa butter with 1 tbsp of wheat germ oil, 1 tsp of apricot kernel oil and Vitamin E oil and 2 tsp of grated beeswax. Heat this mixture till the beeswax gets melted and then it store in an air container and keep it in the refrigerator. It has to be applied two times in a day on the affected areas.

Oil Treatment

  • Lavender oil has to be applied on the marks at least 3 times a day in order to lighten the stretch marks.
  • Take an ounce of carrier oil, like jojoba or almond oil, and mix 7 drops of lavender oil and a few drops of chamomile oil. This mixture of oil can be applied to the affected areas.
  • Apply aroma oil on the stretch marks and massage gently to reduce the visibility of the marks.
  • Apply a generous amount of castor oil on the marks, wrap the area with plastic cover, and apply hot compresses for at least 20 minutes and then wash off.

Aloe Vera

Apply aloe vera gel on the stretch marks. The juices in this gel are capable of making the marks lighter initially, and gradually it will eliminate the marks. You can also prepare a mixture of ¼ cup of aloe vera gel, ½ cup olive oil, and the liquid of 2 vitamin A capsules and 6 capsules of vitamin E. Store this mixture in refrigerator, and then apply it on the stretch marks.
Other Remedies

Scrubbing the marks with apricot scrub can gradually reduce the visibility of marks. Shea butter is rich in vitamin A and E, and thus can be beneficial in reducing the stretch marks when applied on the affected areas 2 to 3 times a day. Tone and firm your muscles through regular exercises so that you can prevent and reduce the stretch marks. Applying egg white is also found to be effective in lightening stretch marks.
