When using cyproheptadine for hives treatment, the oral dosage is usually taken two to three times daily or as indicated by the physician. The medication might come in the form of syrup, which requires that the dosage be carefully measured using a spoon or a cup. The dosage is usually determined by the doctor depending on severity of the condition and how the patient responds to the therapy. Normally children aged between 2 to 6 years should take a maximum of 12 mg in a single day unless the doctor has specified otherwise. The maximum daily dosage for children aged below 14 years should be 16 mg, and 32 mg for adults.
