Hair Loss Treatments: Bosley

Bosley hair loss treatment is a hair transplant and restoration process by using donor strips of hair. This process is done by various specialized doctors.

How Bosley Is Performed

Bosley hair transplant is performed by an experienced hair replacement specialist. To begin the treatment, you will be given a local anesthesia so you do not feel any pain. Then, the donor strips will be removed from the donor. The surgeon will begin to prepare the strip by dividing it into follicular groups. These groups are divided into one, two, three or four hair follicles. Then, a small incision is made on your scalp where the transplant will be placed. They take special care to make sure that it looks natural and real.

The rest of the donor follicles are surgically placed where needed and your surgery is finished. The Bosley hair replacement looks so natural that it is not noticeable (unless by people who are close to you). The transplants should last for the rest of your life. Most people will need at least two treatments to achieve desired results.

Cost of Bosley Hair Replacement

The cost of Bosley hair replacement depends on how many grafts you will need. The cost will also depend on the severity of your hair loss, the texture of the donor hair, and your expected results. On average, you will need around 1500 grafts. Most treatment centers will provide you with an estimate of how much per graft, and the more grafts you need, the less the cost per graft will be. On average, you can look at paying around $10,000 to $15,000 for the whole procedure.

Since this is considered a cosmetic procedure, your insurance company will probably not cover it. There are financing options available. You will need to talk to your treatment center about financing and payment plans. Some of these payment plans are available interest free for part or all of the loan.

Possible Complications

The complications with Bosley are very minimal. The greatest risk of having a transplant is an infection developing. This is very rare and often due to the patient's neglect to follow all of the doctor's instructions. If you do develop an infection, call your doctor immediately to prevent the risk of developing a more serious infection. If you suffer from a medical condition such as diabetes, kidney problems or Lupus, a hair transplant may not be right for you. There are also medications which cannot be used before the surgery such as Coumadin. Talk to your Bosley representative to see if you are a good candidate.

There are many hair replacement treatments available. Some of the other treatments do not last a lifetime. If you are looking for a permanent treatment, Bosley may be right for you. Find a Bosley treatment center in your area and talk to them about how to get started.
