How Strawberries Work for Acne Treatment

Fresh strawberries and strawberry leaves contain salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is one of the top active ingredients in most any acne treatments because it works to get rid of dead skin cells that clog your pores, minimizes the size of pores and gives your face a fresher and more radiant glow.

Strawberries also contain antioxidants and various vitamins and nutrients that will help repair damages to the skin, including acne scars. The leaves of strawberries contain properties that are good for use as an anti-inflammatory for acne and other skin conditions.

How to Make and Use Homemade Strawberry Cleanser

Use three ripe strawberries with the stem and any leaves attached to make the strawberry cleanser for acne treatment.

  1. Using a fork, mash the strawberries in a bowl.
  2. Wash your face with mild soap and warm water before using this acne treatment. You do not have to dry your face; it is good for the face to be partially wet when using this homemade acne treatment remedy.
  3. Apply the mashed up strawberries to your face, rubbing in circular motions around your cheeks, chin, nose and forehead. Do not use around eyes, eyebrows, or within about a half to an inch from your mouth. This concoction dries up oils on your face and can irritate the more sensitive areas of your skin.
  4. Rinse well with warm water and pat dry your face with a towel.
