Removing Scars: Graphites

Among various kinds of alternative treatments used for removing scars, homeopathic medications are preferred by many people. This is largely because homeopathy is amongst the most undemanding of alternative medicines. Firstly, there is negligible fear of any side-effects arising from homeopathy and secondly, the diagnosis is aimed at holistically resolving the problem and not just curbing the symptoms. Graphites are commonly used for homeopathic scar-removal.

Graphite Basics

Graphite is a carbon-based homeopathic compound. Graphite is often not looked upon as a typical, constitutional remedy like most of the other homeopathic medications, i.e. its actions aren't considered potent enough to act upon the problem at the deepest, cellular level when used exclusively. However, graphite is useful for treating some typical skin conditions, often in combination with other homeopathic compounds. Graphite is more likely to be prescribed for treating chronic skin conditions and scars that have matured.

Graphites for Removing Scars

Graphites can cure scarring caused due to allergic conditions like eczema. It is also prescribed for scars that indicate abscesses or widespread inflammation. Graphites are used when the hardening of skin along the scar site is underlined by metabolic imbalances, such as toxins weighing down upon the new, fresh layers of underlying skin cells.

Graphites are perfectly suited for people suffering from scarring that has arisen due to psoriasis or where the skin has become excessively scaly (along with the presence of infection in the dry, scaly skin). Pus-filled scar tissue that has hardened into keloids or scars that have a distinctly raised or itchy outline are also suited for treatment with graphites.

Many times, the scar formation is accentuated by the inability of the underlying layer of skin cells to absorb nutrients due to increased lipid levels. This is commonly associated with heavily-obese people. Graphites are used for treating such typical kinds of keloid scarring.

Some typical symptoms encourage the use of graphites. For instance, if the eczema-linked scarring is present along with excessive mucus formation in the respiratory tract, causing repeated nasal discharge, the use of Graphites is indicated. Similarly, if the scarring is present along with other pustular eruptions on skin along with sporadic oozing of mucus, graphites treatment is recommended.

Graphites are also recommended for treating patients wherein the scarring has become daunting due to the formation of thick, fibrous bands. Such scars cannot be treated with conventional, topical treatments since the underlying adhesions are very sturdy. However, these adhesions can be loosened or at least softened with graphites.

Graphites are also used in the treatment of post-surgical scar tissues. This is commonly associated with breast surgeries wherein scarring along with inflammation of the breast (mastitis) is a possible post-operative problem. Graphites are useful for treating radiation-linked scars that have an ulcer-like outline.

Take Caution

Though no serious side-effects are associated with the use of graphite, it should be used under the supervision of a homeopathic practitioner. Please understand that unlike conventional medications, homeopathy involves using different compound in varying permutations to achieve the desired results. Using graphites exclusively, or in the form of mother tinctures, may not help in removing scars appreciably unless a proper, homeopathic combination is sought.
