Living with Cellulite

Living with cellulite may make a person feel insecure or uncomfortable, but it's extremely common. An estimated 98% of women have some form of cellulite. There are a few ways you can prevent and improve the look of cellulite, and learn to live with it.

Exercise

Anyone can have cellulite, regardless of size or weight. However, one of the best preventative tools we have is exercise. This is because the underlying muscle will expand and help to even out the area. Focus on a healthy workout routine, and make sure to fit in some toning workouts, especially in those areas plagued with cellulite.

Diet

This hasn't been proven, but many agree that eating healthier fats such as olive oil and nuts keep the fat cells smaller than large amounts of unhealthy fats, such as meats and dairy. A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, healthy grains and lean protein can help keep you looking your best.

Creams and Massage

There are many topical products claiming to reduce the appearance of cellulite. You can try them all, but chances are they may not work completely, or give only temporary results. Invest in a firming cream, and this should be enough. You don't have to break the bank. Try a lotion that adds glow to the skin, as this may help mask the un-even appearance of cellulite. Massaging will improve circulation in those areas, and you can do this while in the shower. Use an exfoliating sponge or puff, or try coffee grounds. They contain caffeine which may produce a tightening effect. The increased blood flow helps to even out the tissue in those areas.

Women who are very self-conscious of their cellulite may opt for surgical treatments. They are not all effective, so make sure you do some research before you decide to go through with it.
