Acne Treatment for Oily Skin

Acne treatment for oily skin has to be done regularly to maintain oily skin perfectly. If you were born with oily skin or acquired it after your adolescence, then you may be more prone to acne-related problems. Oily skin gets its stickiness due to sebum (oil), secreted by the sebaceous glands. These glands are found in face, neck, chest, back, arms, legs and other areas also, but they are more active in certain areas than others. This oil allows the bacteria to build up and affect the skin by producing acne. Acne can be treated effectively with some of the following steps.

Face Washing

The best and the simplest treatment for acne on oily skin is to wash your face at least twice a day in order to clear off the excessive oil. For washing your face, choose a cream wash that does not dry your face, or use a mild antibacterial soap to reduce the acne.

Tone Your Skin

Even after washing with a face wash, dirt, cleanser or oil might have been left under the crevices of nose and eye region. The nose is especially the area where large amounts of sebum gets collected and attracts lots of dirt, leading to the formation of acne and black heads. Hence, you have to use a good toner with a soft cotton ball, and swipe it all over your face.

Dead Cells Exfoliation

You have to remove the dead skin cells by using a good facial scrub, or with the help of an exfoliating agent, at least once or twice every week. This removes the dead cells, clears the pore and lets new cells to grow, in order to give a healthy skin. Exfoliation does not let the bacteria worsen the acne problem.

Cosmetics Selection

As your skin is oily, you have to choose cosmetics with no oil, or reduced amounts of oil. Otherwise, the acne problem can get worsened. Even the moisturizers, creams and lotions you choose must be oil-free. You can settle for light moisturizers, like the ones that contain serum.

Topical Application

Use antibacterial or antifungal products for topical application after consulting with a skin doctor. You can also apply cypress oil, apple cider vinegar, tea tree oil, Bentonite face mask or Aloe Vera preparations on the acne-affected areas. Certain doctors may prescribe benzoyl peroxide, resorcinol or retinoic acid for topical application.

Diet Control

Oily and deep fried food will aggravate the acne conditions. So, if you are affected by acne, it is advisable to stop taking these food items. You may also have to quit eating more fish and salty items to keep acne in check.

Word of Caution

Oily skin is prone to have acne problems; hence, you have to follow skin care procedures on a regular basis to keep acne at bay. Though you have to keep your face clear of oil, too much dryness can also create complications for your skin. Hence, it becomes essential to maintain a correct balance whenever you treat your acne problems. You should be careful to remove excessive oil without drying the skin too much.
