6 Natural Remedies to Get Rid of Acne Scars

Acne scars are the scars left behind after experiencing acne. After a lesion heals, there could be a mark left on the skin which still needs to undergo a healing process. This usually takes around six to twelve months, and any skin discoloration found after a year is considered a permanent scar.

While the usual ways of dealing with scar treatments include dermabrasion, chemical peels, punch techniques, laser treatments, subcision, dermal fillers and steroid treatments, there are available natural remedies to get rid of acne scars. However, home remedy treatments are usually applicable for milder scars only and not for the more serious ones.

It is best to avoid acne scars by fighting the urge to pinch your acne. However, if it is already too late, the following can provide simple, homemade and readily available solutions to treat acne scars.

1. Vitamin E

Vitamin E oil is helpful in removing an acne scar by applying it on the affected area. This is not an immediate solution, but consistent application will yield good results. Vitamin E helps protect cells from free radicals and assists in immune functions of the body, so eating fruits rich with this vitamin is certainly helpful.

2. Cucumber

Cucumber is known to improve the complexion of the skin, especially in relieving puffy eyes, so it can also help ease the inflammation when applied on the scars. It can also be mixed with tomato juice, which is known for its astringent properties, and vitamin C, which brightens the skin tone.

3. Tomato and Avocado Mix

Tomato and avocado can be mixed as a cleansing mask. Tomato has oil removing properties and can be used as antiseptic. It also helps remove blackheads. The combination produces a cooling, soothing effect that helps smoothen and soothe the skin. Apply the mixture on the face and mildly wash off with water.

4. Egg Solution

Egg white from raw egg can also help minimize or remove acne scars. It can also be mixed with citrus juice. Apply it on the scar and leave it to dry on the face, like a mask, for around thirty minutes to an hour, and then wash it off.

5. Garlic

Garlic, well-known for its antibiotic properties, can also be used to assist in removing acne scars. Crush and mash garlic into pieces and then apply them on the skin. Leave them on for approximately fifteen minutes and then wash them off gently.

6. Honey

Honey can also be applied on the skin because it has soothing properties. Apply warmed honey by massaging it on the skin and leave it on for a few minutes before washing it off.

These homemade remedies are not always the fastest way to get rid of acne scars. However, they are the least expensive and readily available. To reiterate, it is best to avoid having acne scars by simply fighting the urge to pinch at acne on the face. If the homemade treatments provided above do not help remove the scars, then it is best to look for a dermatologist, to assist in removing them from the skin.
